C.U.R.E. Clinic Cote d'Ivoire

Join Project C.U.R.E. as we partner with Redemption in Action to facilitate our first C.U.R.E. Clinic together in Côte d’Ivoire. Redemption in Action is a non-denominational organization with the premise to "bring back what has been lost to the country." Aimed to be a bridge, their focus is to reach out to rural clinics in desperate need and bring about lasting changes in local healthcare communities throughout Côte d’Ivoire. Project C.U.R.E. has delivered five containers worth $2,680,465 in medical supplies over the last several years. While working with Project C.U.R.E. you will have the opportunity to participate in a combination of mobile clinics and patient education to surrounding areas of the Yamoussoukro Region. We hope you will join us as we deliver health and hope to the people of Côte d’Ivoire!

Côte d’Ivoire’s history is rich and complicated. Sitting on the West African coast, Côte d’Ivoire is bordered by Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, Guinea and Liberia. Côte d’Ivoire has a population of 23.7 million with many different ethnic groups comprising the country. The religion of the country is mixed between Islam and Christianity. Not much is known of ancient Côte d’Ivoire history as almost all of it was passed down in oral tradition. The Portuguese were the first Europeans to discover the coast in the 1600s. In the 1630s, the French were the first to send missionaries to the coast and only a century later the coast became a French protectorate and then a Colony. Côte d’Ivoire gained independence in 1960.

Since gaining independence, Côte d’Ivoire’s has had some political and social turmoil. They experienced a coup d’état in 1999 and 2 religion-grounded civil wars in 2002-2007 and 2010-2011. Power is structured heavily with the President of the country. Ivorian economy is largely market-based and still relies heavily on agriculture. There are more than 78 languages spoken in Côte d’Ivoire, with the official language being French. Yamoussoukro is the political and administrative capital of Côte d’Ivoire and is set upon rolling hills and plains. The rural health facilities outside of Yamoussoukro have high caseloads of malaria, parasites, HIV and respiratory issues.

Your tax-deductible donation to participate on a Project C.U.R.E. Clinics Trip to Cote d'Ivoire is $2,800. This program cost covers all accommodations, meals, clean water, and transportation once in-country, including internal airfare, buses/cars/taxies, fuel costs, drivers, tips, and boats/ferries (when applicable). Program costs also include the coverage of translators, medications, C.U.R.E. Kits, Kits for Kids, travel and evacuation insurance, Safe Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) with the State Department, visa fees, medical license transfer procedures, departure travel packet with Project C.U.R.E scrub set, and all associated shipping costs. Additionally, tour guides and small touristic excursions and activities are included. Please note alcohol, internet access, laundry, and personal souvenirs are not covered in the program cost.

You will have the opportunity to arrange your own international airfare to and from Cote d'Ivoire. International airfare, visa fees and vaccinations are NOT included in the program cost. Find suggested flight itineraries HERE. 

Day 1: Your excursion begins as you depart on an overnight flight to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. Land the afternoon of 3/10 and spend the day in Abidjan. Overnight at a local hotel.

Day 2: Breakfast at the hotel. We’ll do some team introductions, sorting of supplies and then our partner will pick us up for the journey north to the Yamoussoukro region.

Day 3: First day of Clinics!!!

Day 4: Second day of Clinics!!! You've got this. It’s been rewarding work thus far and you are getting to know Cote d’Ivoire, some of the health challenges and our hosts.

Day 5: Third day of Clinics!!! You’ve done a lot of great work. At the end of the day, high fives all around for the wonderful service you dedicated to the people of the Yamoussoukro region of Cote d’Ivoire.

Day 6: Fourth day of Clinics!!! You have successfully completed your last day of the Clinics trip. Photos and stories are taken and shared with your teammates and new friends from Cote d’Ivoire. 

Day 6: You’ve earned a day off. It’s time to take in some of the cultural sites of the city.

Day 7: Time to say farewell to Cote d’Ivoire. You’ve delivered on your promise of delivering health and hope, made new friends -- both Ivorian and American -- and are traveling home better for the experience. Congratulations!
